Individual barrel select blend. This is how we like to refer to our rum, but what does that actually mean?

It means we individually sample and taste every barrel. Each barrel has a story to it. Each barrel is unique and has something different to offer. From a shortlist of approximately Twenty barrels, we select eight interesting barrels to make a blend, and we create our Ord River Rum Premium. Through this process, we ensure consistency in our blends. We ensure we have the right levels of all those yummy notes you expect in a Hoochery Rum. Oak, Vanilla, Caramel, Smoke, Sweetness… and above all, we ensure a silky smooth finish.

The process must be working because our Ord River Premium is one of Australia’s most awarded rums.

We love the complexity of flavours you get from blending a wide selection of barrels, but a few barrels stand out now and then, and you want to capture those specific flavours in a single expression.

The Ord River Rum — Triple Cask Blend 2023 is an experiment blending three interesting casks to create something distinct and perfectly balanced. And if we don’t mind saying so, it’s bloody delicious too!

• The 15-year-old brings heavy oak with rich and robust notes
• The 12-year-old brings a delicate touch of fruit from the influence of the red wine cask
• The 7-year-old brings a youthful energy
